Nana Addo Is Forbidden By Law To Present His Own SoNA – Deputy Finance Minister

9341427536939_7104479802306A lot of political pundits including the former General Secretary aspirant of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), James Kwabena Bomfeh, also known as Kabila have criticized the leader and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo for presenting his version of the state of the nation address.

According to Kabila, Nana Addo’s speech cannot merit the term State of the Nation Address; noting that Ghana does not have two Presidents and so Nana Addo should not supposedly step into the shoes of President John Mahama.

Nana Akufo-Addo on Monday delivered ‘The Real State of the Nation Address’ highlighting the flaws of the current administration and calling for change of government in the November 7 general elections.

The next person to react to the NPP’s ‘Real State of the Nation Address’ is the Deputy Finance Minister, Cassiel Ato Forson, saying there is nowhere in Ghana’s Constitution that allows Nana Akufo -Addo to present his own address on the state of the nation.

The Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency in the Central Region insisted that apart from President John Mahama who the Constitution allows in Article 67 to address the nation through Parliament, no opposition leader has any constitutional right to deliver a speech on the current state of the country.

“I have never seen in the constitution where it states that Nana Addo has the right to read his own state of the nation to Ghanaians as an opposition leader apart from President John Mahama who the constitution allows in Article 67 to address the nation through Parliament,” he asserted.

“He said he is bringing another state of the nation address and I believe this is complete disregard to Ghana’s constitution. This shows that the constitution which all and sundry have sworn to abide by, this man [Nana Addo] does not want to follow it,” he argued.

He however debunked all the claims of the NPP’s Presidential Candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo as lies which have no bearings on the country; reiterating that Ghana is not in crisis as portrayed by Nana Akufo-Addo.
