Why didn’t the NDC solve Galamsey if it was that easy – Miracles Dennis Aboagye

The Director of Communications for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s Campaign, Miracles Dennis Aboagye has slammed the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for blaming the ruling for the escalation of galamsey activities in the country.

Miracles Aboagye questioned the NDC why their government were unable to solve the galamsey issues during their reign from 2011 if the fight against illegal mining is that easy.

According to him, the galamsey activities commenced during the NDC reign, accusing the opposition party of allowing people to mine illegally during their time and also encouraging illegal miners to mine even when the ruling government is making an effort to fight galamsey activities.

“If the issue of galamsey can be solved easily, why didn’t the NDC solve it? Why did they not solve it in 2011? Why did they allow it to start in the first place in 2011? Because the galamsey we are seeing now started under NDC. From 2011 all the way to 2015 to 2016, they couldn’t solve it.” He revealed on the NPP broadcast dubbed ‘The Next Chapter’.

But they are criticizing the government. There is a government, but the government says we can’t do this alone. Law enforcement is not enough. When the NPP was involving the social rule orientation, NDC was busy telling galamseyers to mine illegally. So how do you expect the government to win in this battle?” He lashed out at the opposition.

The effect of Galamsey activities have been heightened after the Ghana Water Company Limited raised concern over the inability to supply some communities in the Central Region water due to the illegal mining activities going on in the River Pra.
