The headmaster of Kekeli preparatory school in Afloa Mawuli Gati has been arrested for registering 62 pupils who are not Ghanaians to participate in this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination, BECE.
The foreign pupils are mainly from Nigeria and Togo who attended a Togo based Faith basic school from JHS one to JHS three but were allegedly registered by Mawuli Gati as Ghanaian pupils for the BECE.
Speaking to Citi FM, the Municipal Chief Executive of Ketu South Elliot Edem Agbenowu who caused the arrest of the headmaster said all the pupils were registered for the BECE without a cumulative record.
“Earlier on pick intelligence and the officers were working on it, we were informed that 62 students who schooled in Lome have been registered by Mr Mawuli Gati, the owner of Kekeli International school, he registered them as Ghanaian students without any cumulative record in the school, it came to light that indeed these pupils were just registered without any cumulative record and they were registered as Ghanaians, not as foreign students and so we’ve handed the proprietors over to the police for further investigation.”
