The Ashanti Regional Chairman for New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako has sworn by the heavens to ensure his candidate wins the National Chairmanship race of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo and Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia are expected to slug it out for the National Chairmanship position of the NDC.
Speaking on his TV Station, Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi stated that he has a preferred candidate in the race and would be supporting the person with resources to ensure he wins.
“I have a stake in the NDC and particularly in the person who wins the National Chairmanship race. I have spoken to my candidate and I swear by the heavens that I will do everything it takes to ensure he wins. It will make the agenda of the NPP to break the 8 easier when my candidate is elected”, Chairman Wontumi said.
The two stalwarts of the party have been on each other’s neck recently with the latest being a leaked audio tape of Mr. Asiedu Nketia shockingly admitting that the NDC didn’t have any evidence before accusing the Electoral Commission of Ghana of rigging the 2020 elections in the NPP’s favour.
Currently, Mr. Ofosu Ampofo’s role as the NDC’s National Chairman is being threatened by the decision of the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia to unseat him.
In what has been described as the main contest in the party’s upcoming National Delegates Congress, Mr. Asiedu Nketia is frantically taking steps to take control of the party as National Chairman ahead of the 2024 general election.
But the incumbent, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, says there have been attempts by party bigwigs to stop Asiedu Nketia from competing him.
