US Court Confirms Hushpuppi’s Sentencing Date

Convicted internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, will be sentenced on September 21, 2022, the United States Attorney’s Office for Central District of California, Los Angeles, has confirmed.

A spokesman for the court Thom Mrozek confirmed the date in an email to Channels TV on Friday.

Hushpuppi’s sentencing has been rescheduled two times since his conviction last year. He was first scheduled for sentencing on February 14 then it was moved to July 11 and now September 21.

Mrozek said Hushpuppi “…is currently scheduled to be sentenced by a federal judge in Los Angeles on September 21.”

The 39-year-old pleaded guilty to charges including money laundering, wire fraud, among others brought against him before the court.

He was arrested in Dubai in June 2020 alongside 12 others and extradited to the US for prosecution.

According to court documents, he risks “20 years’ imprisonment; a 3-year period of supervised release; a fine of $500,000 or twice the gross gain or gross loss resulting from the offence.”

On the possible extradition of deputy police commissioner Abba Kyari, who was indicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Hushpuppi’s case, Mrozek said he could not offer any comment on that.
