K.M.A commissions community Library @ New Tafo

Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly,  Hon Osei Assibey has commissioned an ultramodern community library and ICT complex situated within the New Tafo M/A Primary School of Manhyia North constituency.

The Urban Development Grant funded facility in question was put up to catalyse reading habbit of students, serve as a learning centre and to again offer accessibility to reading materials needed to broaden the horizon of students and residents of New Tafo.

The outstanding initiative has been furnished with 200 chairs, 34 tables, 31 desktop computers, assorted books, shelves, a projector among other learning materials by the authorities of KMA.

The library and ICT complex was named ” Yaw Baah Community Library and ICT Centre” as way of honouring a former assemblyman for Krofrom electoral area; Hon Yaw Baah.

It is on record that the former local government representative (Hon Yaw Baah) during his term in office was bent on championing the course of education at the Assembly.

Briefing a gathering of dignitaries and students, Hon Osei Assibey explained that the former assemblyman though served for only two terms forged hard for the building of libraries within the Metropolice.

The Kumasi Mayor described him as a man who displayed sterling contributions on issues related to education.

He said the constructed UDG facility is a reflection of the assembly’s quest towards ensuring that the metropolis is well positioned in the area of Education, announcing that a similar library complex constructed at Amankwatia will soon be commissioned by the assembly.

A higher percentage of the assembly’s efforts according the hardworking Mayor will be focused on the implementation of educational and health related projects within a number of existing public Senior High Schools in Kumasi.

During the same event, Hon Osei Assibey again commissioned a state-of-the-art mobile van fully equipped with library books and desktop computers provided by authorities of GHIFEC.

The mobile van according to authorities of Ghana Library Board will offer library service delivery in marginalized communities in Ashanti region as a way of promoting education.

Present during the occasion was the Deputy Minister for Education Hon Adutwum, MP for Manhyia North Hon Collins Owusu Amankwah, GHIFEC Administrator Mr. Abraham Kofi Asante, Executive Director for Ghana Library Authority Mr. Hayford Siaw among other traditional leaders.
