A Ghanaian high school student running for Dinning Hall prefect went viral on social media after making the campaign promise of “1 student, 2 loaves of bread.”

The candidate was seen promising the pupils in the video, which appeared to have been recorded during a reading of the manifesto at the Ahmadiyya Secondary School.

On social media, a lot of people have compared the promises made by the Akufo-Addo administration to those made by the young student politician.

The student’s pledge to his classmates comes at a time when food shortages in Ghana’s secondary schools are prompting students to bring their own sugar and bread to the dining hall for breakfast.

“1 student 2 bread” has been likened to Akufo-pledge Addo’s of “1 district, one hospital” and “1 district, one modern hospital.”

Akufo-Addo also pledged to pursue the construction of contemporary theaters with large seating areas in every regional capital, excluding Accra, starting from Takoradi, Tamale, and Kumasi. These pledges include One Village, One Dam, One Million Dollars, Per Constituency Every Year, and One Region, One Theatre.

There were more promises. Akufo-Addo pledged modern marketplaces and retail infrastructure in every area to boost domestic trade in “one district, one market.”
