We Will Tighten E-Levy System So That No One Can Avoid Paying – Majority Leader [Video]

The majority leader in Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has finally sent another message to Ghanaians over the Electronic Levy Tax, also known as E-Levy.

He revealed that the government is not planning on abolishing the E-Levy because they brought back road tolls.

He mentioned that the ruling government needs more revenue so E-Levy will still be in force. The link to the video is below.

One of the main reasons why the government abolished road tolls was because they were introducing E-Levy.

They challenged that E-Levy will give more revenue than road tolls will and so there was no need to sustain road tolls.

However, the finance minister announced that road tolls will be introduced for new roads during the reading of the 2022 mid-year budget.

The majority leader reveals that instead of abolishing the E-Levy, the government is rather planning on tightening all the loopholes in the system so that Ghanaians cannot avoid paying E-Levy.

He revealed that a lot of Ghanaians have found ways to avoid the payment of the E-Levy but they are finding ways to get the majority of the people on the electronic transfer platform to pay E-Levy when sending money.

“ We didn’t talk about the E-Levy because the government will still need it. We are even looking at ways to tighten the system so that Ghanaians can no longer avoid the E-levy tax.

Most of the people have found several ways to dodge the payment of E-Levy and that’s what we want to stop.

We need all those monies to ensure the smooth running of the country.” Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu revealed this on Hello FM.
