Information reaching this website indicates that, four have been shot dead while several are injured by the police over PDS power disconnection at Krobo Odumasi.
Speaking to one Lawrencia, a resident of Krobo Odumasi who witnessed this incident, she narrated to this website that, the people of Odumasi had trooped to the Krobo Odumasi Municipal Assembly to meet the MCE, Mr Simon Asirifi to plead on their behalf with the Power Distribution Service to halt their exercise in order to give them time to settle their bills.
According to her, the residents for about 3 years ago had lodged complain to the then Electricity Company Of Ghana over faulty meters which makes them pay more than expected.
With her narrative, a household sometimes have to pay about Ghc5000 to Ghc2000 electricity bill per month which they believe was above ordinary and this led them to report their disservice to the Electricity Company of Ghana which the issue had remained unresolved till now.
After the Power Distribution Service had taken over from the Electeicity Company Of Ghana, it has commenced a massive power disconnection exercise at the Krobo Odumasi municipality with the escort of the Ghana Police service.
The residence of Krobo Odumasi found the exercise so distasteful since the issue of “Faulty Meters” had not been resolved since 2016.
Reporting to this website, Lawrencia had said that, the youth of Okrobo Odumasi today around 2:00pm matched to the Municipal Assembly to meet the MCE to plead on their behalf with the PDS to consider and bill them on power usage from December 2018 – April 2019 instead from 2016 where they had complained of faulty meters.
Whiles they match to the MCE’s office, the police was alarmed and on their arrival started shooting at the crowd leaving many injured and four confirmed dead.

“It was so scary this afternoon at Krobo Odumasi as the police opened fire on the youth who had matched to the Municipal Chief Executive’s office to seek his intervention on their part with the PDS over power disconnection Execercise by the PDS which has hitted the municipality since last week.
For about 3 years ago, we had had faulty meters which had made some of us to pay between Ghc5000 and Ghc2000 electricity bill. We had lodged a complain to the then Electricity Company of Ghana but they did nothing about it so for about 3 years now, a section Krobo Odumasi havent paid their bills.
PDS started their power disconnection exercise last week which they are been escorted by the police to every household to disconnect their power and today around 2:00pm, the youth had matched to the MCE’s office to seek him plead with the PDS to halt their exercise but to bill them from December last year instead of last 3 years which they cant afford to pay.
As we were matching to the MCE’s office, the police was given a tip off and at their arrival, they opened fire on us leaving many injured and hospitalized and four confirmed dead” – Lawrencia narrates to this website.
