Afia Schwarzenegger has slammed the current government’s media team for providing subpar services to their employers. As a result of the E-levy debacle, she characterized them as weak and inept.
A video posted to Tiktok by Afia Schwarzenegger blaming the government’s communication staff for the public’s outrage over the E-levy has raised some eyebrows. To the anger of the party footsoldiers, the Chief of Staff was recently hauled for a donation of GH¢50,000 to her father’s funeral.
“Welcome to Ghana,” she remarked, “where government communication is poor and qualified people are not employed to undertake proper communication.” If not, you should be aware that we already pay E-levy. Or do you have no idea?
Because you pay roughly GH¢1.00 or so for a mobile money transfer right now when I’m talking to you. As a result, we’ve already paid the E-levy. As a result, the government will simply raise it.”
Afia Schwarzenegger then went on to provide some alternatives to the current E-levy situation. She argued that the government should have hid behind telecommunications corporations to carry out their nefarious plans. They’d still be popular with the people if they did it this way.
“What the government could have done was remain silent and hide behind the Telcos, forcing them to raise it to GH¢3.00.” The government will then require the telecoms to decrease the fee to GH¢2.00. So that the administration appears to Ghanaians as a hero. However, as I have stated, government communication is lacking, and they will not hire competent personnel. Because everyone who uses mobile money already pays the E-levy. What they will do is raise the tariffs.
“As a result, you should stop claiming that you will not pay the E-levy.” Instead, declare you’re not going to consent to the government raising the fees,” Afia Schwarzenegger said.
