ECG Disconnects Power To Kotoka International Airport Over GH¢49m Debt

The Ghana Airports Company Limited, Kotoka International Airport has had its electricity withdrawn by the Ghana Electricity Company due to arrears of GH¢49 million.

The debts, according to ECG, have accrued over time.

This experiment was undertaken by ECG’s task group as part of initiatives to resolve power challenges and renegade customers.

It is worth emphasizing, however, that the power outage at the airport has no impact on travel or other operations at the terminals.

Nene Shadrack, team leader of the ECG’s task group, stated that “electricity will not be restored until 50% of the sum outstanding is paid.” The airport’s main office and other offices are affected, although Terminal 3 and others are not.”

Throughout recent months, the ECG has conducted checks to apprehend unlawful operations involving the usage of power in the country.
