Akufo-Addo Has No Money For 65th Independence Day But Has Money For Private Jet – Rockson Dafeamekpor

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for the Volta Region’s South Dayi Constituency, has remarked that the government’s announcement that there are no money to sponsor the country’s 65th Independence Day is a tragedy.

He has expressed his displeasure with the government’s spending on a costly private jet for his international excursions, while also questioning why they are complaining about funding for the country’s independence celebrations.

His post follows a statement from the White House announcing that, as is customary, the president’s office will not provide any financial help for the organization of this year’s Independence Day celebrations.

The Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, sent a ‘Wireless Message’ to all Regional Ministers (RMs) and their Regional Coordinating Councils (RMCs).

As a result, the Chief of Staff has advised that the day be observed in silence.

The member reacted angrily, querying why the president continues to lease a private plane at a cost of £14,000 per hour at the expense of taxpayers.

“The White House claims it cannot afford to fund our 65th Independence Day Anniversary Celebrations, but it can afford to lease a private plane for £14,000 an hour for his international excursions, including private detours and transits.” They say heyy now when I talk to them….such it’s a tragedy,” he added in the article.
