An advance team from Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s vehicle crashed at Kablipe, a community near Buipe On Friday night.
The group was en route to Tamale.
According to preliminary accounts, the military officials’ car swerved off the main route between Buipe and Tamale and crashed into some wooded areas.
Sergeant Zorwunu, the driver, was killed instantly on the scene.
Major Hansen Adu Kofi and Captain Badawe Sabastian, the other officers on board, were seriously injured.
They were brought to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where they are being treated for their injuries.
The accident comes a day after Vice President Bawumia took over the reigns of the country following the 10-day trip of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
