Prophet Enoch Teye Asene, the founder and head of Sunyani-based Calvary Deliverance Ministry, has described the government’s free Senior High School (FSHS) policy as unduly ambitious and should be repealed immediately.
Ghanaians, according to the prophet, need jobs, not free education, which President Nana Akufo-Addo should address.
“The free SHS is wonderful and admirable, but the devil finds work for idle hands, and the government, rather than focusing on free education, should focus on finding jobs for the kids.” In an interview with Ark FM’s reporter, the prophet stated, “I will choose job development above free education.”
The free SHS program, which was a major campaign strategy for the present government in 2012 and 2016, was implemented as soon as the NPP was elected.
It has, however, been marred by difficulties ranging from a lack of accommodation, furnishings, and adequate nutrition to a lack of basic utilities at the implementing institutions.
Some current government members, including the late Dr. Kwame Amoako Tuffuor, have urged the government to take practical steps to solve the program’s issues.
