NABCO Was A Flop And The Youth Require Long-Term Employment – Economist

Dr. Julius Kattah, an economist and lecturer at the University of Ghana’s ICDE-College of Education and Valley View University, believes that the Nation Builders’ Corps (NABCO) has failed to create long-term work for the unemployed youth.

The instructor pointed out that despite the fact that the government has invested billions of Ghana cedis on NABCO and other short-term job projects, they have not been successful.

According to Dr. Kattah, unemployment is still a threat to the country, but our leaders are merely creating jobs that aren’t sustainable.

According to the policy expert, we need long-term jobs to tackle the unemployment situation.

He claimed that the unemployed are struggling and that the government must provide them with appropriate possibilities.

“We need to get up and doing,” he added, “and make sure we’re creating suitable jobs, not temporary jobs.”

He recommended the government to invest in the extractive industry since it has the potential to generate new jobs.

He argues that instead of taxing, we should focus on production and industrialisation.
