Akufo-Addo’s Government Is In Turmoil And Confusion About The E-levy – Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a former Deputy Minister of Information, has stated that the Akufo-Addo administration is perplexed by reports that the E-levy scheme will reward an entity worth over $40 million.

Felix claimed he had previously stated that the money raised from the levy would be given to the institution in charge of collecting the money.

“The Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government is in sixes and sevens over its responses to the discovery of a GHS 241 million budgetary allocation for ‘e-Transactions Levy Services,’ which essentially means that even before the much-despised e-Levy sees the light of day, a shady, most certainly nepotistic, entity has been tapped to bag a cool $40 million per annum out of the

“While John Kumah claims to refute the discovery, he actually confirms everything that myself and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said about it—namely, that the money will be given to the institution that collects the e-Levy.”

“On the other hand, Majority Chief Whip Frank Annor Dompreh insists that GRA will handle the collection and that a third party will be brought in only if necessary. I’ve included screenshots of both responses for your review. Meanwhile, GRA collects $ 2 billion in VAT every year with no hiccups or shady transactions.”

Frank Annoh-Dompre, a member of Parliament from Nsawam Adoagyiri, had previously accused Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a politician from North Tongu, of dishonesty over the latter’s appraisal of the E-levy plan in the 2022 budget statement.

Mr Ablakwa had described the E-levy as e-robbery. He has called for a united front to reject the proposal.
