Gabby Otchere Darko, a stalwart of the National People’s Party (NPP), has claimed that Parliament’s rejection of the 2022 budget yesterday could have disastrous ramifications for the entire country.
After a walkout by the majority caucus, Parliament unanimously rejected the budget for 2022.
The NPP caucus walked out of the meeting after the speaker refused to exclude Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC’s General Secretary, from the public gallery.
After the speaker ordered the Finance Minister to leave the floor of the house before voting, the majority caucus was enraged.
Following their walkout, the Speaker resumed business with the remaining minority legislators after failing to reclaim the majority.
Following that, the minority voted unanimously to reject the 2022 budget, which they dubbed “awudie.”
Gabby Otchere Darko, in a quick response on Twitter, warned Ghanaians that rejecting the budget meant there would be no money for any government activity, including paying public sector workers’ salaries.
