We’ve Sold Our Colour TV For Black & White – Drivers Union Apologises To Mahama

National Drivers Union organization with over 1,000 members, has issued an unconditional apology to former President John Mahama for campaigning against him.

The driver union said that they had no idea the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government would be indifferent to their suffering, claiming that their protests about recent high gasoline price spikes had gone unheard.

Yaw Barima, a spokesperson for the Union, stated on Akoma FM’s current affairs and politics show GhanAkoma on Tuesday, October 12 that drivers fared better during the previous administration.

“We had no idea that the current government was so indifferent to our suffering.” Every month, it appears that fuel prices are rising, and this is harming us.”

The disgruntled drivers claim that “skyrocketing” fuel prices may compel them to raise transportation fares.

True Drivers Union has expressed its dissatisfaction with the Akufo-Addo administration for failing to deliver on its promises to drivers.

“All over a thousand drivers dotted over the country in 2016 and 2020 publicly campaigned for NPP because,” they added. We trusted their promises to bring down fuel prices, but it appears we were fooled; we’ve traded in our color TV for a black-and-white set.”

Former President Mahama was eventually asked to forgive the drivers for campaigning against him during the last two general elections.

“Mr Mahama, we apologise for accepting President Akufo-lies Addo’s since we were unaware that our lives would be jeopardized under the NPP government.”

It appears that the development has sparked concern among other driver unions.

GPRTU, Concern Drivers Union, and True Drivers Union have also vowed to raise transportation fares by 20% in response to recent increases in gasoline prices.
