The league trophy had eluded Accra Hearts of Oak for eleven years but they took their destiny into their own hands and divided all odds to successfully clinch the 2020-2021 league title to revive and deepen their status as one of the most decorated clubs in the country.
They were able to get all points in the most crucial match of the season against their arch rivals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko to put themselves in a much comfortable position prior to being crowned league champions.
The league season has been particularly tough for all clubs in the midst of the Covid19 and inadequate sponsorship, among others.
One staunch Kotoko fan, who has never hides her admiration for the royal team of Kumasi has alleged that, Accra Hearts of Oak bought matches to win the league. Afia Pokua also known as Vim lady appears to be pained by the victory of Hearts of Oak and she is not hiding her frustration.
Asante Kotoko was equally in a very good position to clinch the title but luck eluded them when they lost to their arch rival by a goal to nil in their second leg match at the Accra Sports Stadium few months back.
“You go and buy matches to win the league, now Hearts of Oak want to present their cup to Otumfour. Fire burn Hearts of Oak. We are warning you”, she indicated indicate on her Facebook page.
The post appears to be a jovial swipe on the Accra based team as Afia Pokua is a known Kotoko fan and takes every opportunity to call out Hearts of Oak.
