Road at Menzezor Anyinase in the Western Region has caved in [video]

A road at Menzezor Anyinase in the Western Region of Ghana has just caved in.

According to residents, there were some minindrins constructed at the edges of the road that fed into the culvert too. This could have collected huge volumes of water from the neighbourhood and directed it to the bay just around the culvert.

Unfortunately, that collection point wasn’t reinforced with any concrete and left the surfaces left to erosion thereby weakening the foundation of the culvert.

Other accounts from the community assumed a landslide. But there was no evidence of a quake or any tremor during the rains.

The magnitude of damage requires that the entire road within a 100 meter radius must be re-engineered before rehabilitation. On the back of a common knowledge about the enclave having the highest rainfall rate in Ghana, any earth works must be reinforced against potential erosion and other defects.
