Akufo-Addo’s Gold track students use productive holiday to travel in search of jobs

Some second year’s Gold-track students of the Free Senior High School policy in the Upper East Region are using their productive month holiday to travel to the southern sector in search of jobs.

The sad but smart initiative on the part of the students, they say is for them to mobilize money for their next term come August 2021.

Some of them who were spotted at various transport terminals in Bolgatanga, told A1radioonline.com that one of the reasons they were traveling to the Southern sector specifically Kumasi was because they have not been given an actual date for resumption hence will not want to waste the holiday in the house.

One student who claimed he attends Kongo Senior High School in the Nabdam District, said “I’m going to Kumasi to collect something from my mom. But if I get there and there is work why not, I will work. We don’t even know when we are reporting back to school. Our teachers say we should be listening to the radio or news. So I will not like to waste my time here.”

Another one from Zamse Senior High Technical School in Bolgatanga stated that she was going to work as majority of her friends were already there.

Some of them also noted that they would have loved to stay home and learn but the learning materials for such a productive month were not there.

They said even notes given to them during their stay in school were something to question about as they only cover a few of the topics.

Meanwhile, checks also have it that every market day in Bolgatanga, many of these students majority of whom are females usually troop to the market in search of work.
