We’re on course in building the 99 new district hospitals – Nana Addo

President Akufo-Addo has maintained that his promise to build hospitals in districts without existing hospitals is still on course.

In his tour of the North East Region, he noted that the hospitals which were to start last year were delayed due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 outbreak.

President Nana Akufo-Addo in 2019 promised to build more than 90 new hospitals in districts without hospitals in one of his coronavirus highlights.

However, several people questioned his ability to deliver on the pledge.

“Each of them will be a quality, standard design 100-bed hospital with accommodation for doctors, nurses, and other health workers,” President Akufo-Addo said.

Ghana needs the new medical centers as it doesn’t have enough testing and isolation centers to treat COVID-19 patients, Akufo-Addo said, adding that the investment was “the largest” in Ghana’s history.

At his recent tour, he reiterated that the hospitals would be built as promised.

He said despite the negative impact of Covid-19 on the economy, the hospitals would be built.

He assured the people that the plans of the government to develop the region and the country in the areas of agriculture, jobs, education are also solid plans.

According to him, his expanding technical and vocation education and they are embarking on a big focus on skills development, technical training to respond to the demand for skills from the job market.
