Two members of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Defence Press Corps, who are also members of the Ghana Police Service civil media team, have been honoured by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police Service, for their outstanding and professional reportage on crime and security.

The two, Linda Tenyah-Ayettey and Anass Shieba Seidu, who are journalists with Daily Guide newspaper and Citi FM and TV, respectively, were part of five media persons who were presented with awards, at the CID’s 2018 West African Security Services Association (WASSA) celebration on Friday, 12th April, 2019, in Accra.

The awards, which were in the form of a plaque, had the citation “This is in recognition of your selfless dedication to the works of the Criminal Investigation Department. Congratulations”, and were incidentally presented to the duo, by the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) of GAF – Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) Obed Boamah Akwa, who was invited by the Police administration as a guest, to grace the ceremony.

The other three journalists were Anita Nyarko-Yirenkyi of New Times Corporation, Peter Quao Adattor of TV3 and Mary Mensah of Daily Graphic.

WASSA, which is a socialization activity, is annually employed by the security services, for troops to unwind from their heavy and strenuous schedules, to socialize with family and friends, and also to take stock of the previous year’s activities and plan for the oncoming year.

The 2018 CID WASSA, themed ‘Consolidating ideas against vigilantism for national safety’, was under the distinguished patronage of Mrs Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Jubilee House, who was the Guest of Honour.

The Defence Press Corps of GAF, is a team of media personnel drawn from various media houses, who are mainly dedicated to Defence and Security journalism, and have been particularly trained and certified on issues concerning some of the security agencies.
