Police officers have been reduced to beggars before criminals – Kofi Akpaloo

Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) Mr. Percival Kofi Akpaloo has described some officers of the Ghana Police Service as “beggars” who extort money from criminals without performing their core duties of protecting citizens and properties.

According to Mr. Akpaloo, the acts by these police officers have degraded the image of the Service accusing them of allowing criminals to operate freely in the country.

“Some individuals in the police service have degraded the job to the extent that when you meet them there is no respect. The first thing they do when the meet you is to beg for money”. He bemoaned.

Mr. Percival Akpaloo who spoke on Accra based Kingdom FM in a studio discussion chided the so-called “police officers do this when they see people using expensive cars, adding that they do not care whether such people are armed robbers” all they do is to salute and take money.

“So far as the person uses a luxurious car, they start to salute and then go ahead to beg for money”, he added.

He described such officers in the service as “unprofessional” indicating that “this is what is happening in this country which needs to be condemned”.
