The Member of Parliament (MP) for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi has revealed that he will not be an MP for a long time.
According to the Lawmaker who assumed office on January 7, 2021, his motivation for entering into Koforidua politics was for a purpose, that, when fulfilled, will not seek reelection.
He hinted that he will quit as MP in the shortest possible time for others to also get the opportunity to serve.
“My interest in politics as I always tell people around me is that they shouldn’t see me as someone who is going to engage in politics for a very long time in Koforidua. I came in for a purpose. I came to participate in Koforidua politics for a purpose. God knows my heart. I came in to help the development of Koforidua. I will leave in a short period for another person to take over. That is all that I came to do, so I need your prayers and goodwill support“. He said during a forum with constituents at Koforidua Old Estate on Sunday.
Michael Okyere Baafi was elected on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, NPP, in the 2020 parliamentary election which he won with 47,862 votes. He succeeded Dr. Mark Assibey Yeboah who was a lawmaker for the New Juaben South Constituency for 12 years.
