You didn’t speak on Kasoa Ritual Killing but you are quick to send tribute to Prince Philip – Ghanaians harshly criticize Akufo-Addo

Some Ghanaians have harshly criticized President Akufo-Addo over his apparent quietness on the Kasoa Ritual Killing juxtaposed to his quick tribute to Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

Many who have reacted to the president’s tribute to the Royal Family, Queen Elizabeth and the people of the United Kingdom believe he is being hypocritical.

According to President Akufo-Addo’s post, the people of Ghana together with himself send their deepest condolence to the Royal Family and Prince Philip over his demise at age 90.

An excerpt of the statement reads:

It is now known in Ghana as the Head of State Award Scheme, and I had the honour, two days before his death, of cutting the sod for the construction of its own administrative office building, making Ghana one of the few countries in the world, and the second in Africa, to have such an office. His place in Ghanaian history is secure, and we appreciate very much his contact with us.”

However, the comments under this post made by Ghanaians reveal how the citizenry is appalled by the President’s quickness to extend felicitations to the UK while he remains quiet on pressing issues plaguing the nation.

Many made reference to the Kasoa Ritual Killing amongst other issues in which the president has remained quiet but finds it expedient to react to international issues.

Well, others also argued that President Akufo-Addo is one of the outstanding African leaders and Chairman of ECOWAS thus his comment on issues of global concern are very important.

Also, Ghana is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations thus it is just diplomatic and politically right for the President to react to the death of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh…many have thought.
