Accra And Winneba Next To Be Hit By Loading Shedding As ECG Prepares To Release Timetable

The country has been experiencing some random outages and this has caused anxiety among many people especially those who use it for their enterprises. Many assume that the government is deceiving people to believe that the issues have to do with maintenance works and not necessarily payment issues.

It can be recalled that Kumasi had received their own share of the load shedding which has led to a lot of complaints.

Today, Thursday, April 1, 2021 the Ministry of Energy in conjunction with the Ministry of Information, GRIDCO and ECG organized a press conference to trash out issues regarding the load shedding. According to GRIDCO the next place to be hit by ‘dumsor’ is Accra and Winneba. The head noted that the load shedding will be needed so as to improve some of their systems.

1.The timetable is still being worked on and when the time comes Ghanaians will be informed about the nature of it.

2. The load shedding will ONLY hit Accra and Winneba. It is not a nationwide load shedding.

3. Oppong Nkrumah noted that the free water and electricity has ended.

4. The load shedding is not as a result of issues with payment.

5. The country has no issues with generation as there is so much energy for the country. The country has an excess of 5000 megawatts and the highest demand ever in Ghana which happened last month was 3,171 megawatts.

6. The free electricity in the past few months in some way contributed to the high use of power.

The boss of ECG maintained that the load shedding will only hit Accra and Winneba and so this should not be misinterpreted to mean the whole country. What are your thoughts?

Is the energy sector actually working on systems or having issues they don’t want Ghanaians to know? Is Dumsor back?
