Yilo Krobo Pleyo M/A Primary School Cries For Help [Photos]

The headmistress of Pleyo M/A Primary School in the Eastern Region, Madam Regina Djangmah has appealed for assistance from the government, Non-governmental Organization (NGO’s) and philanthropist to put up a permanent school block to replace a dilapidated bamboo structure on the upper primary building.

According to her, the school established in 2008 and has about 280 populations can only boost of proper building for the kindergarten and the lower primary.

On the other hand for the upper primary level since they lack well structured building to serve as classroom, a deporable bamboo structure fix by the community serves as an alternative classroom accommodation for the pupils.

Making the appeal through the media, the headmistress said the upper primary level had been in the structure for long over due since it’s been left unconcerned by authorities.

In spite of attending classes in makeshift bamboo structures with a dusty floor, Madam Regina Djangmah noted that they also lack school desks and tables for both teachers and learners.

This, she indicated that the lack of chairs and tables has prople students to carry eating tables and chairs from their various homes as a possible means to solve the menace. Stressing that due to how crowded students sit on a desk is making them observe the covid-19 social distancing protocols.

A problem the headmistress described as “disturbing and alarming” since it hinders the progress of academic works of teaching and learning which she revealed has led to school dropouts and consistent absenteeism because most pupils can’t lean on the walls and floors to study.

Similarly, Madam Regina bemoans that due to lack of urina and toilet facility in the school, students always go to the bush to urinate and answer nature’s call whenever they feel uncomfortable.

However, she indicated that the precarious state of the school had been brought to the notice of both the Municipal Education Directorate and the Municipal Assembly but to no avail.

Thereafter, Madam Regina Djangmah, the headmistress of Pleyo M/A Primary School is calling on benevolent organizations and individuals to come to their aid as soon as possible.

Pleyo M/A Primaryschool ranges from kindergarten to class six (6) making students who complete the upper primary seek for Junior High School continoution around the nearby communities such as Oterkporlu, Sikab3n and many more.
