A Communication team member of the New Patriotic Party, Albert Forkuo Boakye, has revealed that the party supporters from the Ahafo region would be footing the bill for the nomination forms of Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako following the good job he did during the 2020 general elections.
He commented that it took the efforts of Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako also known as Chairman Wontumi to “sack” Mr. John Mahama from political power in 2016 and preventing him from coming close to the seat again in 2020.
In an interview on Wontumi TV, he cautioned NPP members from allowing the Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi to poison their thoughts about Chairman Wontumi.
According to Mr. Forkuo Boakye, knowing how powerful and effective Chairman Wontumi is, the NDC through their Communication Officer started complaining that the NPP government had awarded Chairman Wontumi with juicy contracts.
But in his view even if Chairman Wontumi has been awarded with such contracts, he deserves it because the erstwhile NDC government under Mr. Mahama deliberately destroyed his business.
“The only sin Wontumi committed is to use his money to sack Mahama from power. Then you have Sammy Gyamfi accusing Chairman Wontumi of getting contracts to make NPP members hate on him…But Chairman Wontumi is the one who sacked Mahama from power and the NDC fear him.”
He described Chairman Wontumi as a man who “has a position of trust when you give him money he is already rich so he doesn’t steal. He won’t take a party pick-up truck when we all know he already drives luxurious cars.”
Mr. Forkuo Boakye stated that when it comes to electing party executives for the NPP in Ashanti region, the process is equivalent to a national election and for that reason the Ahafo region would throw its support behind Chairman Wontumi to continue to serve as Ashanti regional Chairman.
“During last years’ elections, the Ahafo region only contributed 30,000 votes to the NPP… Chairman Wontumi got a net of 1.2 million votes to support President Akufo-Addo to win his second term. We would pay for his forms and we would come and pick it up for him”, Mr. Boakye said.
