Press release
11th April, 2019
Re: Stop campaigning with Mahama’s name or we boycott 2020 elections – Concerned Members of NDC A AK.
Our attention has been drawn to a press release and consequent radio interviews on Cape Coast based station Okokroko Fm by a group calling itself Concerned Members of NDC AAK appealing to the National Executives of NDC and His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama to stop Hon Felix Kwakye Ofosu from parading himself as the one appointed by former president to lead the constituency as Member of Parliament come 2020.
The party leadership in the Abura Asebu Kwamankese Constituency do not recognise this group as members of the party from the constituency. They are merely attention seekers and the party would not waste time on the said group. The party have structures in place for every member to seek redress when the need arises. We condem their odd action by not respecting party’s structures.
The NDC party in Abura Asebu Kwamankese constituency is poised to win both parliamentary and presidential elections. No distractions and setbacks by any group would derail this objective.
Hon Felix Kwakye Ofosu has not violated any of the party’s rules. The party is of view that, the said press release is borne out of sheer ignorance, well calculated attempt to bring his name and that of AAK NDC into disrepute and we condemn it strongly. The party cherish all our parliamentary aspirants and would provide a level playing field devoid of fear, intimidation, favouritism and partiality.
Going forward, we demand outright apology from the said group to Hon Felix Kwakye Ofosu, all the other people mentioned in the release and interviews as well as leadership of the constituency.
We are by this release reminding all Akatamansonians in AAK that the upcoming parliamentary primaries is a family affair which should be devoid reckless media engagements and its associated anti-party conduct in line with our party’s constitution and the guidelines approved by NEC. We will not hesitate at all to haul rabble rousers and their sponsors before the disciplinary committee.
