A leading member of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) Akosua Manu has called for a ceasefire between the Alan Kyeremanteng Bloc and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia block.
This call comes after a clash on social media over a photo of Alan Kyeremanteng’s wife which has since gone viral.
According to her, 2024 is about breaking the eight cycle by beating the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the third time.
She indicated that the race is not to destroy the party but to consolidate their gains in order to get the nod to govern the people of Ghana for another term therefore attempts to break their ranks with who becomes flagbearer is needless.
“Break the 8 or break the party ? Some posts are needless. If you truly wish the party well, be careful what you put out there.In 2024,it is the NPP against NDC. Let’s be guided,” she said in a post shared on her Facebook page.
There is a ragging debate on who take over from Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party.
This seem to have created a division in the party’s grassroots who have taken sides in the leading contenders for the position.
Political Analysts believe that this division which is expected to be more visible after the party’s Presidential Primaries will be the downfall of the New Patriotic Party as they may lose the 2024 election to the largest opposition party should they also choose right.
