Youth of Bomfa, Adumakaase clash over land; 1 dead, police officer injured

One (1) person identified as Emmanuel has been confirmed dead while others including Police officer receiving medical treatment as youth of Adumakaase Kesse and Bomfa in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region clashed over a piece of land.

Two (2) persons were sustained injuries when police opened gun shots on the irritate youth after the attacked the police officers who were deployed to the community to maintain law and order.

There has been a land  dispute between the two communities Adumakaase Kesse and Bomfa.

The Ashanti Regional Police PRO ASP Godwin Ahianyo addressing the media said “the police received Complaint from the people of Bomfa when some youth from Adumakaase Kesse stormed Bomfa to attack them”

According to ASP Godwin Ahianyo, “Police officers who were deployed to the community were attacked by the youth”.

“One police officer was hit by a foreign object and he also fired gun shots and two persons got injured. One person has been confirmed dead, while the other one including the police officer receiving treatment” ASP Godwin Ahianyo explained.

“I must say the Regional Police Commander COP Kwasi Mensah Duku is not happy about the incident. This morning the Regional Police Commander engaged the chiefs and the leaders of the community and they have agreed to ensure peace as they are ready to talk to their people”.

ASP Godwin Ahianyo added that, though calm has been restored but the Regional Police Command has deployed to the community to maintain peace.

The Regional Police Command has reported the matter to the Overlord of Asanteman Otumfour Osei Tutu II.

Meanwhile the Ashanti Regional Police Command has commenced investigation into the matter.
