Controversial entertainment critic and showbiz pundit, Dan Lartey has disclosed that he’ll personally vouch for the Bhim Nation President, Stonebwoy to lift the ultimate artiste of the year award in any award scheme organized in the year 2021.
“For me as we speak I will go for Stonebwoy to win the ultimate award whether 3Music Awards or Ghana Music Awards USA or UK. In general I’m not considering VGMA alone because we do have other prestigious award schemes that do honour artistes,” he vouched.
Charterhouse, organizers of the annual most revered Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) recently rescinded their decision to ban Afro-Reggae Dancehall duo Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale for their misconduct at the 20th anniversary of the awards scheme.
He added “So I don’t only consider VGMA but I will stick my neck out and go for either Medikal or KiDi that is if VGMA doesn’t lift the ban currently on Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale. As for Kuami Eugene I don’t even consider him to be a contender for the Artiste of the year.”
Dan Lartey who is famously remembered for shaving his hair and beard after Sarkodie lost the VGMA Artiste of the year award last year told Amansan Krakye on Kastle FM that no one should write off ‘La Hustle’ hitmaker, Medikal for the ultimate award this year.
He continued “I say this based on works and the category definition which is artiste with hit songs, artiste with audience appeal and when you look at these Medikal for me in 2020 was fantastic. Medikal was so fantastic that you can’t write him off any of the top awards.”
In an interview on the Kastle Entertainment Show, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Remedi Entertainment said he doesn’t consider Kuami Eugene for the penultimate award this year but his label mate, KiDi should also not be written off.
“If you take him out it would simply be impossible and look at another artiste like KiDi who released an EP and he has one of the biggest songs Say Cheese which was huge including Enjoyment which wasn’t part of the EP. So an artiste like that you can’t write him off,” he concluded.
