Koku Anyidoho sues NDC’s Dzifa Gunu for defamation, seeks GHC10m in damages

The Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills Institute, Koku Anyidoho has hauled Dzifa Gunu, an aide to former President John Mahama before court for defamation.

He’s accused Dzifa Gunu of casting serious insinuations on his integrity through defamatory comments he made in a Facebook article on January 16, 2021.

Dzifa Gunu in a post on his Facebook wall, among other things accused the former National Democratic Congress’ Deputy General Secretary of making several attempts on the life of former President John Mahama by visiting shrines in Benin and Togo to cause his premature death, a writ prepared by lawyers of Koku Anyidoho stated.

It further alleges that the defendant (Dzifa Gunu) had also made a categorical statement that the Plaintiff (Koku Anyidoho) caused the death of his 8-year-old daughter who passed away on November 7, 2020 in a car accident and was even taking steps to kill the mother of the said child.

Koku Anyidoho further states that Dzifa Gunu made a categorical statement that he(Koku) was absent during the pre-bural, burial, and post burial ceremony of his late daughter and that he surfaced after the burial had taken place and only took pictures and post same on Facebook.

According to Koku, Dzifa Gunu claims that a point in time, the Police found Indan hemp in his(Koku’s) house a fact that Dzifa knew to be untrue.

According to Anyidoho, all statements published against him are false and unfounded and merely an attempt to injure his hard-earned reputation.

He added that the false and malicious publications by Dzifa Gunu have injured his image, brought his hard-won reputation into hatred, ridicule, obloquy, discredit, contempt, vilification, reproach, and caused him great distress and emotional trauma.
