Martin Amidu is a smart man for killing 2 birds with one stone – Franklin Cudjoe

It is another election year and Ghanaians are expected to run to the polls and vote into office a president. The likelihood is that it will either be a candidate from the ruling New Patriotic Party or the opposition National Democratic Congress. Yesterday President Akufo-Addo made a landmark decision when he called for the controversial Agyapa Deal to be sent back to Parliament for processing.

Today Tuesday November 3, 2020 on ‘Ekosii Sen’ President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe was interviewed to share his thoughts on the new twist to the Agyapa deal. According to him the result is a mixed bag.

“If I was the President I would have asked the Finance Minister to remain in office but then withdraw from handling the case. it is a clear case of conflict of interest. The President has done well by calling that the document should go back to court” he said.

On Martin Amidu, the president of the Think Tank noted that he has played a smart game by pleasing everyone especially in this election year. He was of the view that Amidu didn’t want to offend the governemt entirely by asking for the Agyapa deal to be reassessed. To ensure balance he went on to refer to JM as Official 1 in the Airbus Scandal.

“Amidu has been very smart to tell a permissive lie. I would not have agreed with him. He played an equalization game. By pleasing both NPP and NDC in his report, Martin have proved that he is smart. The technical writing is very deep. To be fair he has acquitted himself. We could have avoided some of the drama in the report” Mr. Cudjoe said.
