Ghana football star, Kevin-Prince Boateng, has honoured his promise of helping families who lost their kids in the Offinso bridge car accident by donating 16,000 Ghana Cedis to the eight families on Monday, November 2, 2020, at the Offinso Municipal Assembly, Joy Sports has reported.
Back in September 19, 2020, the colt team had travelled to Afrancho to register for the upcoming district colts football league and were returning to Offinso in the Ashanti Region but their van vied off into the Offinso river, causing the death of 8 of the over 30 young footballers.
Each of the 8 families received GHC2,000 from the GHC16,000 donated on behalf of the former AC Milan star.
“We are here to share in your pain, so that you do not carry it all alone,” said Fiifi Parker Hanson, who represented the player.
The Municipal Chief Executive of the area, Solomon Kesse, who welcomed both Parker Hanson and the parents of the victims, thanked the AC Monza attacker for honouring his promise to help calm the families.
“It is not even about the amount Kevin sent, but the willingness for him to go to these lengths to do this. It really shows a human side of him and for this, he would never lack.”
The eight footballers were laid to rest a month ago, and tributes poured in worldwide from the football community.
