Minister of Education, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has beaten his chest with great audacity that his government has done better than any other government in the entire political history of Ghana including Nkrumah.
He had this strong persuasion from the fact that the Akufo-Addo-led administration has implemented the Free Senior High School policy which hitherto was written off by my doubters of the government.
According to him, the government’s ability to provide free quality secondary education to all Ghanaians positions the government as the one that has served the nation better and has outdone Nkrumah.
Speaking at a ceremony to officially hand over 100 buses to some senior high schools in the northern sector of the country Thursday morning, Dr Opoku Prempeh said he was convinced the Akufo-Addo government had performed better than any other administration in the history of the country in the educational sector.
“When we said we will implement the free SHS policy, many doubted us. They said we can’t do it because it has never been done. Today, we have proven all of them wrong. The implementation of this policy amongst other developmental initiatives by the Nana-Addo governemnt makes us the best governemnt in the histroy of Ghana. The investment in Education alone surpasses that of Nrumah and all previous governments.”
Speaking at the same event, vice president Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said the busses were to manage administrative challenges heads of various Senior High Schools are grappling with.
The Free SHS was the flagship policy of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)N in the lead-up to the elections in 2016 and they will be looking forward to trumpeting its successful implementation to woo Ghanaian voters to vote in their favour.
