Former President Mahama Disappointed In NPP For Attacking His Running Mate

The Flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed his disappointment in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for attacking his running mate, Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman.

“I am largely disappointed and I’m sure many Ghanaians are even more disappointed that the government, the leading NPP and members would call a press conference on such an occasion and without even extending any warm appreciation or congratulation or anything to the other party, would attack and go on with their usual politics”, Madam Joyce Bawah Mogtari spokesperson for the Former President John Dramani Mahama has said.

After the announcement of Prof Jane Naana Opoku Agyeman as the running mate to Mahama for the upcoming general elections, the ruling NPP organized a press conference and attacked the former president and his newly selected running mate.

According to the NPP, the nomination is “a clear indication that he (John Mahama) does not take the Ghanaian electorate seriously”.

They described the move by the opposition NDC as “dangerous and a threat to Ghana”.

However, Madam Joyce Bawah responding to NPP in an interview with GBC radio said that the former president is disappointed in the ruling party.

She added the nomination of the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast is widely accepted by Ghanaians.

“When you follow social media, on the entire news portals you follow the conversation, I’m sure you realize that this is the nomination that is widely accepted by the good people of Ghana in our entire history. I have met many feminists, even my colleagues on the other side have reached out to congratulate President John Mahama for this nomination”, she told Ibrahim the host of Behind the News on GBC radio.
