A nine year old Abena Bayie has committed suicide after three teens; Kwasi Prempeh 18, Akoto Nketiah 17 and Ofori Mensah 17 raped and molested her after weeks of monitoring her movements according to Wiamoise Police Inspector. Wiamoise is a town in the Ashanti Region, East of Kumasi. It is a 2 hour journey away from Kumasi.
Father of Abena Bayie, Opanin Yaw Preko said he went to Kumasi last week Monday and left her daughter alone. He came back on Tuesday morning and found his daughter in an uncomfortable situation. She was showing symptoms he didn’t understand so he took her to the hospital and doctors confirmed she has been raped. Abena then told doctors last Tuesday morning how the whole thing took place.
According to Abena’s report, she was home Monday evening, the day her father went to Kumasi when the three friends came to visit her saying his father has sent them to wait for him. They cornered her and raped her three times. Each of the teens had his time with her. Police were called to the scene and the three boys were arrested. Unfortunately, one of the teens, Ofori Mensah is the son of the police Inspector at Wiamoise so the case was settled home without prosecution on last week Thursday.
Ever since, the boys and the community has been teasing Abena Bayie and Abena couldn’t take it longer so she took a kitchen knife and said goodbye to earth this afternoon by stroking her stomach with the knife around 2:30pm.
The father of Abena, Opanin Preko said, he did report the issue of the teens teasing his daughter but the Inspector said he was going to make sure it never happens again, well it happened with Abena taking her own life today.
Opanin Preko said, the teens were monitoring her daughters movements and watching his house because no one knew he was traveling that day and he made sure his daughter had everything before traveling. So the teens used the advantage of his absence to come rape his own daughter at his own house but a man without the law on his side was forced to settle.
Abena was an intelligent young girl, a J H S 1 student of Wiamoise Junior High School who has been top of her class since KG. She was the only child of her father Opanin Yaw Preko. Abena’s mother Juliet, died while she was three years and ever since the father has been occupying the post of a father and mother simultaneously.
