The electoral commission of Ghana is set to begin with the pilot of the controversial new voter registration exercise today Tuesday 2nd June 2020 in some selected Constituencies across the country.
The EC is expected to begin the compilation of the new register from late June 2020. The process will be done within 40 days.
The commission initially slated the exercise on April 18, 2020, but had to postpone it due to the coronavirus.
A Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bossman Asare revealed that the Commission has received many of the equipment required for the compilation of the new voters’ register slated in the last week of June which are being calibrated therefore the piloting would help the commission to know how the equipment works in a different environment.
According to him, the Commission has also procured hand hygiene devices such as veronica buckets, liquid soaps, sanitizer among others to be positioned at every registration center across the country when the main registration exercise commences.”
