Markets to be shut if preventive protocols are breached- Deputy Regional Minister

Deputy Western Regional Minister, Gifty Eugenia Kusi has hinted that markets that fail to adhere to COVID-19 preventive etiquette will be shut down. She assessed that most markets in the region hardly comply with protocols issued by government in preventing a community spread of the novel coronavirus.

Recounting a recent shut down of the Bogoso Main market as a possible action to be taken, the Minister urged traders to observe these preventive protocols for their very own good.

“In fact the problem we have in the Western Region is the wearing of nose-masks. It’s now become so difficult for people to wear it but I think that once the L.I has been approved, now if you don’t wear your mask you can be prosecuted.

“Some markets are not observing the physical distancing protocol. There are so many markets that are not observing  this. From now any market that is not observing social distance will be closed down because we don’t want to die before our time” she reiterated.

The Sekondi Takoradi has been applauded by the President for being religious to the preventive protocols outlined by the Ministry of Health, in the various markets.
