With the closure of schools across the nation as a preventive measure against the spread of Coronavirus, tertiary institutions have now gone digital with their lectures as tutors are now teaching students online until normal school activities resume.
Well, politician and actor, John Dumelo has thought it wise to support some tertiary institutions with internet data to aid in their ‘online lectures’.
Taking to Twitter to make this known, the parliamentary candidate of Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency has donated 2 terabytes worth of data to Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and another to the University of Legon students.
“I have been engaging some class reps on Gimpa campus since yesterday and I’m happy to announce that I will be sharing a total of 2Tb( 2,000Gb) of data amongst some students on Gimpa campus to enhance their online lectures. God bless us all. “, Dumelo wrote on Twitter.
Now there’s nothing wrong with a politician helping out their constituents but the problem with Dumelo’s uncensored spending is that without transparency regarding where he’s receiving his funding, we have no idea who is helping him finance his campaign.
Who is waiting in the wings for Dumelo to enter office so he can scratch that person’s back in return? We have no idea and that should be very worrying for every Ghanaian.
