North Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a group congregating at Cod Beck Reservoir in the North York Moors National Park at around 7.36pm on Wednesday.
The four individuals present were issued notices for breach of Covid-19 conditions. It is understood the men had tents, but officers could not confirm this
drone was not used during the incident, police said. People in Britain are currently only allowed to leave their homes for one bit of exercise a day, to get food or medicine, to get medical care or to go to work. Those who flout the lockdown rules could end up hit with a £60 fine.
This could potentially increase to £120 for a second offense, with the penalty doubling for additional breaches.
The cost of initial fixed penalty notices will be cut to £30 if the fines are paid up within two weeks – but those who do not pay could be taken to court and risk facing unlimited fines.
It comes after a driver was fined last week for telling police he had driven three hours from Nottingham to London to buy bread ‘because it was £1 cheaper’.
