Why is sarkodie called ‘Kabutey’ – Serwaa Amihere query

GhOne Tv presenter has asked the ultimate question you might be asking yourself as well. Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has often be referred to as Kabutey but not many know why his moniker has now become part of his brand.

Serwaa Amihere who seems to be ignorant about the name took to the micro-blogging platform, Twitter to ask why the rapper is always referred to as ‘Kabutey’.

The word ‘Kabutey’ is a name in the Akan society and it is also Sarkodie’s moniker which he has often used in his raps way back when he was an underground rapper and still uses it. Whenever a rapper mentions the name ‘Kabutey’ in a diss song, it is often linked to the BET award winner.

This was the moniker Asem used in his freestyle that got him served in Sarkodie’s ‘Sub Zero’ song.

Twitter users in a reply found a way to educate Serwaa Amiher on the popular Sarkodie’s moniker.

According to most of them, his stinginess is what earned him that name. See some of their reactions below:
