The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Danka Akufo-Addo has donated his three months salary in an effort to support a fund he has set up in the fight against the deadly coronavirus/
“I have directed the Controller and Accountant General to pay my next three months salaries, ie. April, May and June into this Fund”, President Nana Addo said during his fourth address on his update on coronavirus.
He added “I’m announcing tonight the establishment of COVID-19 fund to be managed by an independent board of trustees, and chaired by the former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo to receive the contributions and donations from the public to assist in the welfare of the needy and the venerable”
The President also thanked institutions and individuals, who have already made their donations saying, form the Bottom of my heart, the churches, financial institutions, and individuals who have already made donations to help in this fight, God richly bless you.
As at the morning of 27th March 2020, a total of fifty-seven (57) cases including three (3) deaths have been confirmed from the regular surveillance systems. All the three (3) cases that unfortunately succumbed to the disease were aged and had underlying chronic medical conditions. All the other fifty-four (54) cases are well; fourteen (14) are being managed at home and the rest are responding well to treatment on admission in isolation. They are awaiting their test results and will be discharged when the results are negative.
