COVID-19: UK “Borga’ Returnee Quarantined In Bongo District of the Upper East Region

According to some sources of information reaching our desk and gathered by Ghanawish.com has it  that a UK based Ghanaian who arrived in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region this week after the President’s decree has been quarantined.

It follows concerns raised by residents on suspicion he could have been carrying the deadly coronavirus in view of where he was coming from.

As a result, he together with his brother who was exposed to him were immediately quarantined and their blood samples taken to be forwarded Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) to ascertain if they have the virus though both have shown no signs and symptoms.

Meanwhile, residents have urged to calm down awaiting the results of the two brothers it is gathered are being housed in a guest house in Bongo. It would be recalled that the President on his 3rd address to the country on the coronavirus pandemic last weekend stated that the country’s borders including airports have been closed to air and road travels as a way of mitigating the effect of the deadly virus.

“All our borders that is by land, sea and air will be closed to human traffic for the next two weeks, beginning midnight on Sunday. Anybody who comes into the country, before midnight on Sunday, will be mandatorily quarantined and tested for the virus. This closure will not apply to goods, supplies and cargo.” The President said.

Ghanawish.com has however confirmed that per the President’s directive, travelers who arrived in the country were immediately bused to Marriott and Alisa Hotels where they are being observed amidst testing to ensure they are not carrying the virus.

It is gathered that these persons are living in these facilities at the expense of the state with some heaping praises on government for its initiative which is aimed at dealing with the pandemic that has so far killed thousands across the globe.
