Coronavirus Ambassador: Pay me or forget it – Shatta Wale to Minister

Self-Acclaimed Africa Dancehall King and Shatta Movement (SM) Boss, Shatta Wale born Charles Nii Armah says he’s not part of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and therefore will not play the role of a Coronavirus Ambassador for free.

The Information Minister in a stakeholder meeting with the GJA, GIBA and other stakeholders in the fight against Coronavirus mentioned that government intends employing the services of celebrities to intensify education on Coronavirus.

Although some sections of the media and other stakeholders in the country were of the view that government was going to pay these Ambassadors, the Information Minister debunked the claims and insisted that they won’t pay ambassadors.

Reacting to this in an interview with TV3’s MzGee monitored by Ghanawish.com, Shatta Wale mentioned that in case he is appointed an ambassador, he will ask to be paid before he takes up the role.To him, he’s not a member of the political party in government to work for them for free.

He said “They’re working and they’re getting paid… They’re charging us with taxes here and there and we understand. Our royalties are not getting to us so we’re not even making that kind of money that we have to make; so if government wants to engage me, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie or any other, they should know that there is something that needs to be done. It’s a tradition.

“We can’t come out and say we’re going to do it for free. I’m not part of their political party. It’s best for them to put a package down. Doing it for free will be very hard for someone like me.”
