Residents of Damongo took to the streets in wild jubilation over the test results of a 35-year-old Italian returnee who was quarantined at the Damongo Hospital in the West Gonja District over suspicion he had the deadly coronavirus.
Reports gathered by Ghanawish.com indicate that the gentleman in question arrived in the country on February 28 but reported to a health facility in Damongo with symptoms similar to that of a covid-19 patient.
Residents in the area had suspected the returnee after days of observed cough and reported the issue to some opinion leaders, including the Municipal Chief Executive who convinced him to report to the hospital.
He was therefore taken into detention and his samples sent to the Tamale Teaching Hospital to be forwarded to Accra but it emerged that he tested negative for the virus.
News about the results saw relations jubilating as they held the erroneous impression that anyone who has the various was automatically bound to die.
