Founder of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh has insinuated that even if government has to demolish every building in Accra for the construction of the National Cathedral, it must be done to please God.

According to the man of God, people will always be in need so the construction of the cathedral by the Akufo-Addo government is not a misplaced priority as purported by others.

He believes building a cathedral for God is the most important thing so Ghanaians should not politicize the issue, but rather, rally up to support the government.

“As for me, building the national cathedral is like building a house of God and so it doesn’t matter whether you’re NPP, NDC, CPP or DPP. Building a cathedral for God is most important. People have asked us why we are breaking buildings, even if we can break the whole of Accra and use it to build the house of God…let’s break the whole of Ghana and build it into a church and that will be a place of peace.” he said.

He further noted the national cathedral will be a symbol of peace and unity in the country if it’s is built.

“As a matter of fact, if you want peace, cohesion and unity, what will bring us together is the church. When it comes to National Cathedral and building for God, I will not politicize anything. The poor will always have, the people will always be in need but as we build this thing it will be a safe haven for us to come together”.

President Akufo-Addo today, March 5, cut sod for the construction of the National Cathedral and advised Ghanaians to appreciate the edifice because God through this cathedral has saved the country from numerous crisis and sicknesses.

The president further said the construction of the cathedral is an act of thanksgiving to God and will unify Ghanaians.

The National Cathedral which is being designed by British-Ghanaian architect, David Adjaye will have a 5000-seater auditorium as well as chapels and a baptistery. It will also house a music school, an art gallery and a bible museum.
