A police officer attached to the Asesewa District Police Command has been arrested for failing to account for his rifle and ammunition for an operation.
The Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Police Command, DSP Ebenezer Tetteh confirmed the incident to Starr News when contacted. He said further investigations are ongoing, but failed to disclose the name of the officer.
An Assembly Member in the Area, Kwasi Larweh told Starr News, there was robbery incident on the Asesewa to Akateng road same week the Police Officer’s gun got missing.
According to him, residents have always suspected some Police officers of aiding and abetting with robbery gang who have been terrorizing residents, particularly traders on the Akateng road.
Meanwhile, the suspect Police officer was on Monday September 9, 2019 made his maiden appearance in Koforidua Circuit Court “A” where he was remanded into Police custody to reappear on September 24, 2019.
